d’Arenberg Hermit Crab Viognier/Marsanne 2010

I had Hermit Crab’s Viognier a few years ago, and I enjoyed it but was not impressed.  This time around, (and perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I know more about wine now), it was lovely.  I found this wine honeyed, full of white stone fruit, peaches, and the core red fruit of a not quite ripe nectarine.  There are hints of pineapple, grapefruit, and some wild flowers.  This is a powerful white wine, not something to be paired with delicate fish.  It would go well with a mildly spicy dishes, or even a sweet and sour pork.

Suggested retail: $17.50
